Here in my little corner of the world (Minneapolis, Minnesota) we have a music scene which I am very proud to live amongst. Our local artists are clever, prolific, and overall quite kind people. At this point, I'm familiar with most of them...but last night, I had a major dork moment. =)

At this point, I'm going to rewind time to April 2007. Last April, I went to a Mat Kearney concert. At this concert, he had another musician with him on stage...my sisters and I quickly began referring to that mystery man as "Hot Guitarist." Because, as you may have guessed, the guy was HOT. Now despite my fangirly adoration for the likes of David Anders, Gale Harold, and Jim Sturgess...it is actually pretty rare for me to encounter a man that I find so attractive I would refer to him as hot. But this guitarist...well he was fricken' gorgeous. During the whole concert, I took two pictures of Mat Kearney, and about 13 pictures of 'Hot Guitarist'. For two weeks after that concert, my sisters and I were still discussing 'Hot Guitarist' and relating the tales of his hotness and appearance to all of our girlfriends. (Followed by laughter, and their agreement of his hotness upon further viewing of his pictures.)

So...fast forward to last night. My sisters and I, along with a handful of our friends, attended the Absentstar concert at The Varsity Theater. An hour into the show, my sisters and I walked up to the bar. Standing in front of us in line was...you guessed it...'Hot Guitarist'. We had NO idea he lived in Minnesota. So my sister Amanda said to him "Are you Mat Kearney's guitarist?" and he replied "Yes, I've worked on a lot of shows with Mat." and subsequent small talk was exchanged between us all. He was a very nice man. And as soon as he walked to the other side of the venue, my sisters and I had to laugh at the fact that we had once again encountered 'Hot Guitarist'. At this point, our friend Dan came up behind us and said "Hey, you all know Tyler?"

At this point, Dan proceeded to tell us that Tyler is an AMAZING guitarist and songwriter... having worked with several great bands, including Audio Adrenaline. (They were a huge Christian Rock band a few years ago.) Tyler is highly respected among the music community for his skills, and overall...just a really talented guy. We felt quite sheepish that we'd approached him as "Mat Kearney's guitarist" when in fact he's high profile enough to go by his name only... which we learned is Tyler Burkum.

So today I decided to do a bit more research on 'Hot Guitarist' Tyler Burkum (whom I SERIOUSLY hope never stumbles upon this blog..or I would die of embarrassment for having been busted in my 'Hot Guitarist' diatribe). I googled him to try and ascertain the true spectrum of how successful and talented he really is… Turns out, he’s pretty fricken’ successful. He has his own Wikipedia page, several biography pages, and an official website. Oh yeah, and there’s this little fun fact too:

“Tyler Burkum is a two time Grammy Award winning American guitarist and songwriter.”

Wow…. TWO Grammy’s… I guess that means he’s accomplished a bit more in life than just being a hot guitarist, huh?

So today I am obviously feeling a bit embarrassed by the whole encounter. Even though the logical part of me is aware that to him, it was probably just exciting to be recognized by some fans that had enjoyed his performance during a concert last April. For me - A girl who greatly respects musicians and is dutifully reverent of grammy winners - I rather wish that I had just shut my bloody mouth and continued to admire the 'Hot Guitarist' from afar.

I thought that I'd found all of the David Anders videos I had the last time I posted here...but I found one of my old laptops three days ago and discovered some videos on it that I'd forgotten to transfer when I upgraded to a newer computer. I uploaded the interview with David Anders and Greg Grunberg a few days ago...and today I uploaded an interview David gave on Soap Talk in 2004, as well a Public Service Announcement he made. (The PSA is back when he still had his long hair...looks like it's from around season two of Alias.) It was fun to see those videos again! =)

Also, I've uploaded two (so far) videos of the actor Jim Sturgess to my Youtube account as well. Any "Sark" fans out there should probably check out Jim if you've never heard of him before. He's British, he's got adorable dimples, a wonderful smile that even makes his eyes crinkle, and he's a talented singer. He stars as Jude in the movie "Across the Universe" (coming to DVD on Feb 5th) and will be in the upcoming Kevin Spacey film "21." The two videos I've uploaded of him on Youtube each feature him singing some Beatles songs. I'm quite fond of him. =)

On this day in history, You Tube was made more attractive. =) I uploaded some of my old David Anders video files that have been in my hard drive for a while (some a few years) now.

-One is a clip from his short film "Peacock."

-One is from the Rendezvous convention where he sang with Bradley Cooper and Melissa George.

-Three of the clips are of the interview he did on the TV Guide Channel show "Tv Talk". I've always been bummed at the low quality of the original video, but it was still fun to watch it again. Those clips took me a really long time to edit...the show is 30 minutes long, so I had to cut out a lot of the parts where Sarah Clarke was talking in order to make it shorter. I wanted to edit it to run pretty smoothly though, so I had to time the scene cuts very precisely. It's a good thing David is so damn handsome...it makes it easier to stare at his film clips for long periods of time while editing. =D

A few days ago I edited and uploaded the clips of him and Jennifer Garner hugging at the season 3 dvd release party; and I uploaded the video of him promoting the Alias game on Players.

All-in-all, I feel like I've fulfilled my civic duty as a loyal Sark-ho for the end cap of this year.

I made a virtual Holiday card for David Anders a few years ago. I thought I'd repost it in honor of the Holiday season. (It's behind the cut below.)

Recently, I've been going through my hard drive trying to organize my files. I've found some old video footage of David in there. I'll be uploading the files to my Youtube account over the next week or so. (My Youtube Channel is listed on this page under the "Explore Other Vineyards" section on the right.) I'm editing the files first to take out the stuff that's not relevant to David. (Smaller files = better disk space.) I haven't checked my old desktop yet (I have to reconnect it) but I'm fairly certain I have some old interview files on there which aren't even available anywhere else on the internet anymore. I'm really hoping that I didn't delete those files. I won't say which ones they are, because I don't want to get anyone's hopes up in case they aren't on my hard drive. But if I did keep them, I will post them soon. (Those will take a bit longer to edit together, since the interview was broken up into several different videos.) Have a Happy Holiday season everyone!

P.S. I also found some of the smiley's I made back when I used to run the David Anders Pictures forum at Sd-1. I used to love pushing the limits there by making cheeky smileys and icons. (I hid most of them behind the cut below to save space.) Here's my Holiday set. Please don't steal or re-post these smiley's, I made them for myself. =)

He's still my favorite muse...

I've been thrilled to watch David Anders on Heroes this year. As everyone that knows me is aware (hell, it will probably say "Sark's Mistress" on my tombstone) the character of Sark from Alias (played by David Anders) is my favorite character of all time. I've watched David in all of his other projects because I love his charisma, and yes, he's not hard to look at either. Yum! My favorite non-Sark role has definitely been his Heroes work.

Drunken, limey, samurai Kensei = Absolute brilliance! =D

The character itself was vastly different from Sark in many ways. (Yes, I am referring to the character of Kensei in the past tense due to the now public knowledge that Kensei has evolved into the character of Adam Monroe.) However there were moments where 'the dark side' came sifting behind David's eyes. He has a amazing gift for showing emotions just beneath the surface. David seems to have chosen ‘biting his bottom lip, then slowly changing it into a smirk’ as his requisite ‘evil’ facial cue. And since the man’s got great lips and an incredibly sexy smirk, I fully support his ‘evil face’ decision. =)

Also, in an entirely coincidental Kensei mirrors Sark moment, these little weapons pics make it blatantly clear to me why I’m enjoying him on Heroes so damn much. On one side, Sark with a sexy weapon. On the other side, Kensei with a sexy weapon. David’s certainly growing up…but still positively dreamy. *swoon*

I haven’t made any fanart for quite a while. I wanted a Kensei wallpaper for my desktop at work though, so I sat my bum down and dusted off my photoshop program. Considering I haven’t dabbled with photo editing for nearly a year now, I am very pleased with how this wallpaper turned out. I’ve included a thumbnail below to show you. Behold my life as a rockerbaby...I LOVE going to concerts. I've been to so many that I've actually lost count by this point. But I thought it would be fun to put up a list of the concerts I've seen. (Well, not all of them...just the one's that I can think of right now.) To add an extra touch...I'll write my favorite concerts in green. As stated in my profile, I love doing graphic arts. Of all the wallpapers and manips I've made, these are the one's I'm the most proud of.

This first one is my absolute favorite. I spent six hours on it, and it was worth every second. It's a wallpaper I made of the wonderful actor Gale Harold.

Poetry...for the reader in a hurry.

When asked what defines me in life, I'd have to go with the answer that I am a writer. My specialty is poetry, but I also write a lot of fiction. (In the internet world, I'm most known for the writing the Alias -Sarkney genre- fanfic "Simple Pleasures") These are a few of the poem's that I've written...(I've chosen some of my shortest, because I'm aware that many people don't enjoy poetry...so these are three tiny ones! ) Don't get any cruel idea's about stealing these poem's and claiming you wrote them yourself, I've already had them published in several different places, and I own the copyrights on these poems... (I don't mean to sound like a bitch, but I've had problems with people stealing my works in the past...it's an invasive and horrible feeling.) So:

Transcendence

I've got lust boiling beneath my skin,
It's trying to seep out through my pores.
I don't really need to feel at all,
Do I?
I could dive (or perhaps belly flop) into my subconscious,
And only come up for air when it's somber,
And silent,
And I will no longer know anyone's name.
I could watch as each cell floats away,
Until I am a free white light.
With no shape, freckles, or birthmarks,
Just a floating euphoria.

Scattered thoughts on a paper mache mind torment her and remind her that her abilities are cliche and she has become an obsolete kind.

She used to have words strung across her eyelids like butterflies in abandoned valley's, but the sounds have been clipped and she shatters into flakes of color.

For so long she believed that her inner radiance would carry her through it all,

Into a place of serenity and transcendence,

But now she realizes that at the core she is simple, and the weak do not inherit the earth.

She stumbles through it searching for rays of connection and accomplishment, yet finds only shame and humiliation.

She could enforce her body's return policy, but inflation destroyed her price range.

She used to see herself in vivid hues, with others that took warmth in her glow. Now she suffocates when looking in mirrors, and only sees scenarios for those who have no concept of who she could truly be.

Blotchy skin where there once was muscle. She realizes she's eaten her entire former self in body fat.

Still she is not full.

She used to crave invisibility, now realizes she's obtained it, along with a fleeting glance of revulsion.

She misses being seen.
